About Owen Costanza
Owen Costanza is a businessman and entrepreneur who made the decision to give back to his community by serving on various boards and now in elective office. His primary business is ownership of the Flanders Insurance Agency. His business provides insurance to homeowners, business owners, automobile drivers, and life and health insurance.
Owen has worked his entire life and from humble beginnings, he has built a substantial business and has now brought his work ethic and know how to the management of the Village of Poplar Grove. Owen was elected to the board of trustees for the village in 2015 and then ran for Village President in 2017. He is now running for his second term.
Owen’s term in office has been punctuated with successes on behalf of the people of Poplar Grove. During his first term he has applied his business management experience to the operations of the Public Works and Water and Sewer departments. The result has been efficiencies in the operations of both departments and an increase in the number of billable addresses for sewer and water that has lessened the need for rate increases on current payers.
With 150 new homes built in Poplar Grove, Owen has focused his attention on the need for more parks and recreation. A new dog park and children’s park are now underway in part due to the village securing a $40 Thousand dollar grant from the Realtors Association. The West Grove pavilion in on the schedule for this year after a Covid 19 related delay.
In addition to his service in Poplar Grove, Owen has served as the President of the Capron Rescue Board of Trustees and as a 911 Board member. Owen has also been a member of the Lions Club serving as a Zone Chairman, and member for 17 years. He has been a member of the Belvidere Club which is now the Poplar Grove Club.
